PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Born in Tanzania, East-Africa, moved to Zambia by 1969, and established a business known as Ndola Auto Spare Parrts. Responsibilities included import, distribution and retail of automotive parts. In 1974, he moved to Canada at which time he purchased a Rust proofing franchise that employed 8 people. In 1975, he established Canazam Auto Services; a corporation which operated several businesses (used car lot, garage, and a chain of gas stations). Subsequently, he opened a new concept East-African restaurant, employing four people. In 1983, he established Kara's Convenience Stores Ltd., which consisted of a chain of grocery stores. In 1988, Mr. Kara sold all these stores and opened a one hour photo-finishing lab was operated by his wife until the summer of 2002. During his successful venture in the photo-finishing business, Mr. Kara also purchased 2 well-known franchised "O'Tooles Restaurants", employing over 100 people. Other business ventures also included a formal fashion store and although Mr. Kara's ventures are vast, he has maintained a very successful Real Estate Career since 1988.
His most recent achievements are as follows:
*2005 4th. Quater 1st. Place in Residential Units sold in Ontario amongst all Sales Associates within Prudential Real Estate Network.
*2005, 2004 & 2003 - Winner of “President’s Circle” placed one of the top amongst all Sales Associates within Prudential Real Estate Network.
*2003- United Way “Community builder Award” “for making a real difference, for building a stronger more caring community.
*2003- City of Ottawa civic appreciation award “Humanitarianism” presented by the Mayor Bob Chierelli
*2002- “Golden Jubilee Medal” Award presented by Her Majesty the Queen through Canadian Governors General.
*2004- From 1999 every year a Rising Star Award “Community Champions” presented by the chairman of The Prudential foundation
*2002- City of Ottawa civic appreciation award “helping make the city a better place to live in” presented by the Mayor Bob Chierelli
*2003- 3rd Quarter # 3 Commercial Sales Associate Award in Ontario

*1999- Nominated by the Board of Directors of Café Supreme Canada Inc. (national chain) as “Advisor” to Business Development Committee.

Over and above, Mr. Kara has been active in volunteering service with Meals On Wheels, beyond delivering meals every Friday since 1999, Mr. Kara has identified two other needs for the organization, First is fundraising and second is publicity. Over the years he has chaired and organized fundraising events and organized a team of business persons in excess of 20 businesses. All these efforts has raised in the vicinity of $115,000.00 up to end of 2006
